Research

  • The Sustainable Tourism CRC (Cooperative Research Centre) is a not-for-profit consortium of 16 Australian Universities and Vocational Education Training providers. It is the world's largest scientific facility managing and delivering research to support the sustainability of one of the planet's largest and fastest growing industries, tourism. It acts as a bridging mechanism linking public sector research and higher education organisations and the users of the new knowledge generated, from both the private and public sector.

    Sustainable tourism research and its application is focused on contributing to the delivery of the Millennium Development Goals, especially in the areas of poverty reduction, sustainability and gender equity. Other areas include economic growth and employment, information technologies, destination management, tourism policy and planning expertise, cultural and heritage tourism, marine tourism, tourism in both the developed and the developing world.
